Murder mystery game online

A murder mystery game you play online

Small-Town Secrets is a murder mystery you play in your browser, on a laptop or a phone, with nothing to download. You read the police reports, CCTV logs and witness statements yourself, and a new episode opens every Sunday. Episode 1 is free.

What it is

A case is a story told in weekly episodes. Each episode is a set of exhibits that look like the real thing: police reports, CCTV logs, witness statements and a page from the local paper. You read them, mark the lines that matter, build a notebook and a timeline from your marks, and answer a few questions about what you found.

The case ends with a closing argument. You name the killer and choose the exhibits that prove it. Nobody tells you mid-case whether you are right. Finding out is the case.

Is it free?

Episode 1 is free, and you can read it without an account. Filing your answers needs a free account, which also keeps your notebook and timeline on every device you sign in on. The rest of the case is paid, with a Case Pass. The Cases page has the price and how passes work.

Play alone or with friends

Each player has their own free account, makes their own marks and files their own answers. Read on your own, then compare notes in person, on a call or in a message thread.

Prefer to work alone? The solo page explains the pace. Playing with a partner or a friend? The page for two has ideas for the evening.
